Hi everybody ... New to this site & also new to having chickens! My hubby & I got our first baby chicks (they are 9 days old today) a few days ago & have been learning ALOT on here! I have an ISA Brown & hubby has a Black Star. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated !!!
Hello and welcome to BYC There is a lot of helpful tips and info in our Learning Centre here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center Enjoy!
Well ... right now we have them in the house while we build a coop for them ... they have a perch, water, feeder, pine shavings, heat lamp ... I have been reading ALOT to learn about them ... I was thinking of introducing them to yogurt tonight & maybe mealworms (not sure if I should try freeze dried meal worms or live ones) ... should I add parakeet grit because I am trying new "treats" (trying treats slowly)
Sounds like your off to a good start! Im not sure of yogurt though, never heard of that! We keep ours on chick starter. Although some make a mash for them. I hope you both have fun raising your chicky chicks.
I have been reading about the yogurt on the forums board on here about giving chicks treats ... we are feeding them chick starter ... the yogurt would just be a here & there thing
Lol...Im new here as well so, nice to meet u. We raise ducks and chickens for our own use plus selling them. I just never heard of giving chicks yogurt! which is ok cause im sure im gonna discover lots of new and fun facts I never heard. So let me know please how that turns out, thank you!
