Hi, I'm Susan and I found your forum today while looking for advice. Love how much information is on here. I've had chickens for about 4 months now. I have an isa brown, 2 barred rocks, 2 rhode island reds, and 2 easter eggers. Sadly I lost my other isa brown this morning to a hawk. Thanks for the fast response on how to keep them cooped till I get a poultry net.

Ya hawks do have a way of reducing your flocks numbers .......

Welcome to BYC, Susan! Glad you decided to join our flock. I sorry you lost your Isa Brown to a hawk. It's always sad to lose on of our flock, and Isa Browns are good hens; egg laying machines. We have some Easter Eggers in our flock. They are my granddaughter's favorites. She loves the colored eggs. Good luck with your flock.

So sorry you lost one to a hawk today. It is never easy to lose them. I used to use poultry netting over my garden area the chickens free ranged in and it worked great! Never once had a hawk even try to take a bird.

Good luck and welcome to our flock!
