Hello. I'm Hinky429 and I'm new here.. I'm fairly new to chicken raising also.. We were actually adopted by a baby rooster whom we think was an escapee
from the neighboring chicken farm. One day he just apperaed in our veggie garden and decided to stay. We contacted the Tyson Farm next door ( friends of ours too) and they said if he escapeed then he wasn't happy anyway and we could keep him..LOL
I'm married to my high school sweetheart for 45 yrs. My husband is from a generation of farmers in the South Ga. area. We moved to N. Ga. when we retired and set up our little place here. We have 3 acres of property and have 1 rooster "Chicken Little" ( named by our grandson) and 1 hen "Henny Penny" ( again named by grandson) We got our Hen after having our adopted rooster for a year. My husband feeling sorry for Chicken Little's lonely life went out and purchased a hand raised teenage hen.. We have enjoyed them so very much and let them have the run of the property till my husband couldn't take the yard being so torn up..LOL Silly man thought getting a hen would keep the rooster busy for a while..HA! NOT! Now we had 2 chickens tearing up the yard.... They now reside in a beautiful coop and run..Which my husband made for them. It has a fiberglass roof. tarp wrapped in the winter with a heater and a hen house for 3 hens..
I found this site when looking for an answer to a question.. I still haveto post my question but wanted to introduce myself and our poultry family to you all. I will be looking in to this site I'm sure for many answers to my questions because we have never raised poultry before and have no idea of there likes and dislikes. So look for me.......

Nice to meet you all, Hinky429
