I saw this pigeon on our local moors last week. It was very tame and I'm trying to identify it. Is it some type of helmet pigeon? I can't find anything identical in the descriptions which seem to say a helmet pigeon has white wings. Any help appreciated.
    Many thanks!

[IMG] Did it have feathered feet? If so perhaps some sort of 'Swallow' - Thuringian or Nuremberg perhaps or a cross from these.

Perhaps a cross, yes thank you. It didn't have feathered legs/feet though - they were plain red.

That has to be one of the most beautiful coloured and patterned pigeon I have seen.. and that crest is also lovely.

You will have to go back and catch it.... it must be lost and a bird like that will fall prey to some predator very quickly!

I know. Made me feel sad when I left. Haven't seen it since but am looking out for it. I put it on our local fb page to see if anyone was missing one but no response - I guess it could have come from miles away. Sadly, it stands out like a sore thumb!
