Hi . Pictures attached to get a better look. I can’t seem to upload a video.
This red sex link who is 4 months old approximately, Started limping this afternoon all of a sudden. There is no apparent injury on the legs. I have not noticed any fall either. What do you think I should do? The other chickens appear to be fine and this one is eating and drinking apparently OK.
It is her right leg I think
I’ve soaked both legs in epsom salt bath for 5-10 min and put some mustard oil on her leg in case of mites. What else can I do?

Are your youngsters from a private breeder or a hatchery? Were they vaccinated for Marek's? Have you ever had this issue crop up before? Any unexplained deaths in your flock?

How about petroleum distillates? Any insecticide use? Rodent poison? Yard machines leaking fluids onto the soil?

It was from a hatchery
Also no problem with any one before and no to all the other questions too, no insecticide/rodent poison/ leaking fluid etc

:hugsDid you check the bottom of her feet for bumble foot. The right one looks a little swollen to me. Might just be the photo. Might just be a light sprain.

The usual cause for limping is a sprain. Jumping from a high roost or being jumped on or mated is sometimes the reason. Resting the leg for a few days might help if that is the case. But we get a little concerned about Mareks in chickens that age that seem to have numbness suddenly in a leg. A short video of her limping can be posted on YouTube with a link posted here for us to see.

Thanks! Also... here's a thing that I applied on her that seems to be working! thought i'd share with you. (I'll keep checking for bumble foot too but right now there seem to be no sign whatsoever)
I have done this with my kids as well and my (prone to injury) husband. I made a salve of mustard oil and turmeric and applied it to her leg and bandaged it. I noticed that this morning her limp was definitely better. I think it is working.
Ill change her bandaged everyday till she is fine.
This Salve has cured my sprains and my husband's torn shoulder muscle as well.
Ill keep giving her the epsom salt bath too.
Thank you so much for the responses! i LOVE this forum
