Attaching a photo of my recently adopted Golden Polish (~8 weeks old). She has developed major swelling on top of her head. It seems to be even worse today than the photo snapped yesterday. Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this.

Hi :welcome

Polish naturally have a vaulted skull ~

Your polish above looks to have been feather pecked which has caused trauma to the head. The trauma will have caused swelling making the vaulted skull more pronounced.

Have you seen pecking taking place? Do you have her seperate now?

Thanks so much for the prompt reply and info! Obviously I had no idea re: the Polish's skull composition. You learn something new every day. :)

I haven't seen pecking taking place, but now that I know I'll have to keep an eye out and possibly separate her if this continues. I have cleaned and treated her head with ointment and will monitor her closely to see if I need to move her out of the coop/pen area. Thanks again!
