My black sex-link pullet is 17 weeks old today! But my bantam rooster has been trying to get to her for a couple weeks now and today I saw him mount her! I was extremely caught off guard and thought he was hurting her but I googled and found that a rooster will mount a hen if she's ready to lay. Is this true? Can my bantam rooster be mating with her? She's bigger than he is but not extremely bigger. I'm not sure on his age but assuming he's a few months older than them. I got him from the neighbor. I also have 2 other pullets around the same age as the other but a little younger. He doesn't bother them two that I've seen. Any info?? :D thanks!

thanks!

yep he sure will.....no one told him he is a bantam and that she is large fowl...he just knows he is a rooster....and she is a hen.....lol. when your other 2 pullets start squatting because they are the right age.....he will breed them also. If you don't want fertile eggs...you will have to find a way to separate them. It doesn't change the eggs for eating just because they are fertile.
