One of my Leghorn hens laid this this morning. She's been a consistent one-a-day layer for a couple months now with no issues. 6 months old.

Today's egg. Much better than yesterday but still some blood. Much harder like a normal egg though. She's still acting normal. Hoping this means improvement. Some others suggested it may be an ova duct trauma of some kind. The only roo we have is a bantam that's very submissive. Doubt he hurt her.

Roosters don't penetrate, so it's not likely to be caused by him. Do you have any drakes? Male ducks do penetrate, and chickens are not designed for that kind of breeding. Drakes can seriously harm female chickens.

I sure don't. She shares a coop at night with another Leghorn hen, a red sexlink hen, the bantam roo (all she was raised with),and two young Swedish Flower Hens who keep to themselves.
