I wasnt sure what forum to put it into so i put it in 'managing your flock' and 'emergencies'

Anyway i went to put my chickens and ducks in today and whilst doing so there was a heavy thunderstorm and 3 of my ducks and a chicken ran away as they are free range and were frightened. it very quickly got dark and i completely lost sight of them igot a torch and looked for them for two hours in the pouring rain and i finally found the three ducks in the neighbours stream but no chicken. She has always followed and socialised with m ducks and not my chicken flock so i was expecting her to be with them but there is loads of trees and bushes by the stream i found the ducks so could she be roosting in them. I would love to hear any experiences where the have lost and found there chickens or any tips on helping find her? :(

Generally chickens don't run away forever. Mine have gone missing for a night or two and showed up in the morning by the coop looking for some food. Most predators will not attack during a storm. I don't believe that a rain storm could kill chickens. I wouldn't sweat it. :)

Last weekend a predator broke into my run and during the attack my hen, Spice ran away. I went to look for her, but found her nowhere in my yard. At last when it started turning dark she returned wet and cold ( it was a very rainy and windy day). :)
Another time was when my hens were being "babysat" by a friend. She reported that my Buff Orpington got frightened and ran off into the forest in the backyard. The next day the hen returned early in the morning when the flock was being let out to eat.
Hopefully your hen returns tomorrow, safe and sound.

So sorry you now have a duck missing too. You just can't have anything nowadays without someone wanting to take it. I could have a good rant and most certainly have a lot of choice words about these people, it drives me mad  I would report it to the police. Are you out in the countryside? They do seem to be a bit better now on rural crime, or at least they are up here in Yorkshire.

Hope you don't have any more go missing and the culprits don't visit again :hugs

Sorry to hear about your missing birds, hope they turn up soon. And you really should notify the authorities about your property being vandalized.
