I have six rhode island red chickens i think, we put the chickens out in the coop a little over a week ago just started letting them out in the attached run from the coop, not sure if i should keep them in the coop for another week? The problem i am having is the chickens don''t want to go back into the coop at dusk. Any suggestions?
Just keep putting them in.. locking them in coop at night... eventually they will do it on there own..
Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some good advice already from Rod-T so I'll just say hello! All the best CT
Yes, you should do as Ken suggested. I have problems with my new ones wanting to sleep on the edge, or in, the nest box. Usually just going out there and putting them on the roost works after a few days..these girls are stubborn..it's been a good week now! I have laying hens, or I would put something in the boxes Good luck, they will figure out the coop is their sleeping place.
Welcome to BYC Ditto the above. Put them in the coop at night, show them the roost bar(s). They will need a little time, but they will learn.
