Rookie here, purchased this RIR as a chick, birthdate was around Sept 1 of this year. I always had doubts as to being a hen, this morning as I went out to check water I did a double take! it seems as if overnight the appearance has changed dramatically.:barnie

So.......please someone help me confirm prior to most of the neighborhood hearing him!

Might be time to Re-home George!

wow, those are some shiny, pointed, curvy feathers. [IMG]

I am a novice, though, so maybe someone with more experience and knowledge has a different opinion.

That is cockerel. Sorry that now you will just be down to two chickens. I don't know what you purchased these chicks as, but I would suggest you try to find sexed pullets vs. strait run. It isn't a 100% that they will have all been sexed accuratley, but most of the time they are right. i think most hatcheries offer a 90% sexing accuracy. Good Luck getting your spring chicks!
