Hi all,

I’ve been helping this chick over the last week helping it get better as it had slipped tendons in both legs. I had fixed the one tendon before the weekend and still was unable to get the other tendon to go into place until two nights ago I felt bc it moved almost into the exact right spot so I rewrapped the leg and taped the toes this time. Yesterday morning the chick had been moving around like it had been getting a lot better and could have been able to use the really bad leg. But by the time I got home from work it was unable to use its good leg that it had full motion with just earlier in the day..

The hock is swollen again but it looks like the tendon is in the right spot still? And I’m unsure as to why suddenly the chick is having this happen after doing so well last night and this morning..

I had posted another thread but it was probably not in the right forum unfortunately as I didn’t know where to post something to do with chicks like that when I should have posted it in this forum..

Here are some photos of the hock after the tendon had been unwrapped and was staying in the right place and also of today what the hock looks like and how it’s swollen..

This is how the chick was able to stand just the other day and how it’s good leg was dangling after getting the tendon in place and having it stay (the chicks left leg)

And this is how the chicks leg dangles now (the chicks left leg)

Could the chick just be over using the one leg to compensate for how the other legs tendon is unable to still go into place? I think the chick being down all of yesterday caused the tendon in the bad leg to go back to where it was when I thought it had gotten into place two nights ago now and had it wrapped and wrapped the toes too but then I get home after seeing how good the chick was yesterday morning, and it can’t walk again..

I have left the chicks right leg with the still slipped tendon unwrapped and same with the swollen leg for yesterday evening and the night as I really don’t know what to do with the chick and if it can survive like this or not..

I have to be at work today for the next 8 hours but I’m hoping the chick has a better appetite today than it seemed to have last night.

The chick has a really good appetite this morning and is drinking lots.

Still shaking and idk if that’s because it’s in pain? I’m worried if that’s the case, I don’t want the chick to suffer especially now that it is a week old today..

Looking at the hock now .. did the tendon slip to the outside now instead of the inside like it had?
