Hi,
My peeking duck externally pipped just over 36 hours ago but didn't break through the membrane until about 6 hours ago. The hole in the membrane has gotten bigger but its still quite small and it doesn't look like its gotten any bigger in over the last couple of hours despite the duckling pecking constantly at it.
Should I be trying to assist at this point or should I leave him to it? It will be 48 hours since the external pip tonight so I'm just a bit worried.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have any pictures? It's probably time to start assisting, stop if it starts to bleed and hold a DRY paper towel on it until it stops bleeding. If it bleeds give it more time.

This is the clearest picture I can get through the incubator. I have used a cotton swab to dampen the membrane.
what do you think?

Go ahead and try peeling some shell and membrane back. If it bleeds put it back in and wait 3-4 more hours before trying again.
So I’ve managed to pick away some of the shell but not much of the membrane. Do you think this will help much now or do I need to keep going?

Pull/push back the membrane after chipping away more of the shell. Chip off enough shell that it can push it's whole body out of it.
So this is where I’m up to so far. I did notice a tiny bit of blood at the bottom, should I stop now?
