She is new and had been in quarantine for 2 weeks because of mites. then I tried to introduce her into the new flock and every thing seemed fine. and it was like that three days. but today when I went out she had a bare neck and it was bloody like they ripped the skin off! [IMG] what should I do ? I do not want to lose her she is one of my favorites, and I got her for my birthday.

    muscadine, al.
First off do you have roos? A roo will grab a hen by the neck to mate her. Seperate her right away because the other birds will peck at a bloody spot. Its usually a good idea to quarintine for 30 days before adding to your flock. Do you have pics so we can see how bad and offer more advice? There are many products you can use to heal your girl up but we need more info to help you.

We've had some look pretty bad from fights.... Clean her up and find out where she is bleeding from. We put neosporin on all wounds and just let the beastie heal itself. We've only lost one to infection, but that was because we didn't see his foot problem until too late. We have had to make several other pens to separate our flock. Good luck, hope she is ok

Yes, Give me a minute and I will get pictures.

Yes I have a roo, but it was not him. she was in the coop with the other hens, because I was trying to get her used to the hens first. big bad roo was locked up elsewhere. so it was one or any of the annihilation trio. the last hen I tried to introduce was found dead about a week or two later. I did not suspect foul play at the time. but now [IMG] any way pictures in a second she does not look good.

Sorry the pictures are not the best the quickest way was with the web cam, and she would not stay still with me poking around her wound. also it does not help that she has a lot of feathers.

in real life you can see what looks like veins, and you can see the skin and then no skin and this big hole.

any suggestions on how I should clean it? I have hydrogen peroxide, and if I dig around I might find neosporin or something similar. and I could make a saline solution with salt and water.

Also forgot she is an OEGB so that little section in the picture is pretty big in reality.
