I have a new hen that I have been waiting to start laying. Now this morning I went into the coop to clean and moved a pile of straw and found 20-30 eggs. They feel cold and look great. What I'm asking is should I even try to find out if they are edible or should I just not risk it and toss them.
Thanks,
Red

That's 30 eggs... at the very least, one of those eggs has been sitting there for 30 days. :p I wouldn't eat any of them haha.

Two of my hens, an EE and a Lavender Am, have hidden a month's worth of eggs from me before. I only ate the one I knew was laid the day I found them. Instead of tossing rest of the eggs, I cooked them and fed them to the chickens. Don't waste the extra protein. Your chickens will be more than happy to gobble them up! Do not give your chickens raw eggs, or they may develop a nasty egg-eating habit.
