It was under a broody hen? I would take the egg & put into an incubator if you have one. Is it time to hatch? I have seen bloody chicks hatch out like that & turn out fine. I had to help my Olive egger out of the egg (help-LAST RESORT), and he had blood all over the incubator. I thought for sure he would never make it. That was 6 months ago & he's fine.

If it is a broody hen, is she still sitting on the other eggs? If so, put it back under her. She will probably take care of it. Unless you think she did this to the egg[IMG]

I found it under a barred rock. 4th chick this week. Seemed like it was smushed. Moves and peeps in there. I don't have an incubator so I put it under a broody silkie hopefully the baby will be ok.

Thank you so much for your quick responses to my post, I was honestly worried about the chick. It finally hatched last night with a little help from its silkie foster mom and I. Slept under the wing all night, and was running around with its brothers and sisters this morning!!
