Hi there ,
I would like to know what would be the best type of chickens to keep as pets

The Orpington breeds make great pets. They are very docile, affectionate, they are great layers and are very hardy. My girls follow me around like drooling puppies looking for goodies and a nice soft lap to sit on.

It all depends upon what you want. Pick something that has a pleasant appearance to you. Welcome to BYC.

Bantams are nice - silkies are very popular as pets - my friend has 4 house chickens - 2 silkies & 2 seramas.

Seramas are one of the smallest breeds of chicken- and were bred to be house pets in Malaysia
