Hi need some help
we had several down pours today but don't know is that has anything to do with this
my chickens free range but have access to the run and the coop all day.

when came home from work my white rock hen was standing in the coop not moving
then I got her to move she stumbled a little
then I picked her up what looks like dirty water came out of her mouth
when I put her down this happened a couple more times.

I have put her in my little dog cage but have not given her any water or food yet

what might be the problem and what should I do now?

thanks

She may just have over drank and when you picked her up the crop got squished and over flowed. Hopefully she didn't aspirate any of the fluid.
Don't press on her chest any more.
I gave her some fresh water and am leaving her be
she is still standing up and does not seem to be having trouble breathing
thanks

I checked on her again and the fluid come out if I press on her chest
My husband let them out this morning I will ask him how her was then when he gets home. She is molting but otherwise has been fine.

Check her crop first thing in the morning before she has had anything to eat or drink - it should be empty.
If the crop still has food/water in it or it's hard, squishy, doughy or sour smelling, then you have a crop issue.
Do you know when she last laid an egg?

Well I think her crop is still full of water and I guess squishy is the right description. She is still standing but does not want to come out of the cage. I don't think I smell anything sour but not entirely sure. She has been molting and I don't think she is laying right now. I will go check on her again when I come home for lunch and see if I can make a determination then.

I took off work at noon today and got some probiotic & electrolytes for her water. Moved her to a large cage in the garage. Her crop is still full and when I touch it it is soft and it gurgles. But I do not smell anything sour. She will drink if the water is right in front of her. I put it at her head level because if I put it on the ground she would spit up some then she drank. Twice I found what looked like a cricket leg in the water. She is still up right and breathing ok but not eating anything. I bought some miconazole in case but not sure it gone that far yet. I don't want to make things worse. Just winging it at this point any suggestions would be welcome.

Is she still able to poop?
When you felt of it, could you tell if there was anything hard in there too or it's just fluid filled?
@azygous is the Crop Lady. Most of the crop issues I've had were hard(ish), but I have had one that was fluid filled and gurgly. I believe I did finally feel something firm in the crop too, so gave 1 stool softner after a couple of days of treating with coconut oil and yeast medication. Let's see if Carol will give us some input.

It really seems like just fluid to me. She did poop this evening just a bit of white and fluid. Come on Carol. :bow
