One of our hens got a pretty bad injury on her thigh, muscle showing, skin is hanging off on an area about 2inx2in maybe a little bigger. We took her to the vet, but ultimately couldn't afford their prognosis so they sent us home with antibiotics and iodine sponges. We cleaned her out with hydrogen peroxide then wiped her down with the iodine sponge, then followed up today by flushing the wound with iodine tea. The vet warned us she would die if we took matters into our own hands, but as of now, the would looks pretty good and she is in pretty good spirits, eating, drinking, pooping and wants out of the tub we have quarantined her to when she hears her friends. I read many places to apply blu-kote, but I have also read that the wound might be too deep for it. There are no puncture wounds just a gaping hole in her skin. Any advice?? Thanks!

Also I will mention, her muscle meat appears to be fine, it's really her skin that suffered the trauma.
