I recently noticed that my 5 year old black chicken has developed a huge lump on her nostril, it is quite large and i am worried this may be a fatal disease or tumor. She stopped laying eggs 1 year ago and we let her live her life instead of giving her the 'chop'. She looks normal besides a few white feathers that are still yet to develop from molting. I was researching and found out that it may be a
Fowl pox lesion. Is this possible? Do i cut the lump off? What is it? What do i do? Will it affect her life- spam? If anybody has any information on what this could be, your help would be highly appreciated! Thnx

Fowl pox are normally dark in color wart-like lesions located on wattles and comb... but can infect nostrils, eyes, mouth (inside as well.) Also, sinus canker could be a problem you're dealing with. It has a foul odor. A pic would help.

Thank you very much, i recently took my hen to the vet and the vet said that she simply had a cold or virus that caused mucus to appear in a large lump on her nostril. The vet removed the lump and gave her a course of antibiotics. We had to isolate her from the other chicken while she was on this medication. Thanks!

do you have any pics of what it looked like? And did the vet put her under to remove it? Just curious,
