I posted a while back about 2 hens sharing incubating duties. A couple of babies hatched, but one of the hens killed them. My alpha female then decided she was going hatch the eggs, so I sectioned her off in the big coop, and lo a behold! She has hatched two little ones! I've kept her and the babies sectioned off from the others, but they don't get any sunshine in there. I want to move mama and babies into a smaller coop I have in the chicken yard, but one of my other hens is now sitting on some eggs in it. This is the only place I have where I can put mama and babies where the other hens (particularly my known murderess) and rooster can't get at the babies. It's a store-bought coop with a small run where they can get sunshine, be safe from predators (and relatives!). Is it ok to put two mamas and the chicks in there together??
