Will it be a problem if half of them turn out to be males? My dad said I could get 10 chicks when we move house and I can't decide which breeds.....
I don't really mind I can easily sell the males and I can keep some aswell. Will it be a problem if half of them turn out to be males?
Bantams and rare breeds are usually not available as sexed chicks.
So you will need a plan to deal with males, or else choose chicks that CAN be bought already-sexed. (Already-sexed ones might still have an oops male, but you should at least have fewer males if you buy sexed chicks.)
Sometimes that's easier said than done. Sometimes i can sell males for 5 a piece, sometimes i literally (and i have tried for some of my boys) cannot pay for someone to take themI don't really mind I can easily sell the males and I can keep some aswell.
Not all Cochins are like that...D'uccles are a slam dunk.. so so so sweet... but... i love fluff.. and sweetness (cochin mood swings aren't sweet).. so im actually thinking MAYBE in the future of getting a bantam BRAHMA!!! Still itty bitty, but extra fluff pillow that will be your bestie chicken friend.
It's actually not that easy..I don't really mind I can easily sell the males and I can keep some aswell.
