Hi! New chicken mom here. Have a few issues. Incubating 18 eggs. 14 made it to hatch day. 4 have been born unassisted 48 hours ago now. 2 silkies had external pips, for 12 hours but not through membranes. I assisted and pulled back the outer membrane a bit, but saw blood so I stopped and placed back in incubator. That was 4 hours ago. I just did some reading about putting neosporin on the inner membrane so I just did that now. I clearly see veins so I know they aren’t ready quite yet. Seems crazy as the other Silkie hatched >36 hours ago. The beaks are still moving well and peeping, they just are not doing anything else.
I candled the 2 Olive Eggers saw movement in 1 with no internal or external pips. Day 24. No movement in the other though.
I’m assuming I’m having some sort of incubator issues here but I don’t know what. Should I start air holes for them even without any pips? All eggs were placed same day, all have been treated the same. We’re on day 24 now. Help me save my chickies please!
Ive got 3 Marans hatched so far and 1 Silkie that hatched perfectly without any assistance!
I’d really like these last 3 to be born. I’m so sad on the numbers we lost
Everything I read said at all costs do not help and I assume that’s how I lost one of the other Marans because he had pipped through the outer but not the inner and was doing fine and then just passed around 12 hours because I didn’t help. That’s when I started reading more and came here for help!
If you’re still with me... what do I do about the olive egger eggs without pips but still movement? Fingers crossed my silkies are hatched by morning, but if not what else should I be doing?
