Not sure where to post this or where to look for any answers.

    Problem and seeking solution!

My chickens are losing an abnormal amount of feathers on their back over the tail area and immediately under the tail area. Otherwise all seems fine. Can anyone offer details as to what the problem is and a solution?

    Thanks, Renigeid

How old are your chickens and do you have a rooster?

They are probably molting. What age are they ?

  4. They are either molting (it is that time of year believe it or not) or your roos are getting rather active with those particular hens and they DO have favorites.

    Renigeid,

I PM'd you feel free to post that PM in this thread if you want.

There are plenty of causes/reasons for feather loss.

I had intended to place a copy of the PM here, however this sites forum software is configured the exact opposite of the 15 or so other forums I frequent, the none saving of PMs sent caught me unawares.
