I got 10 chicks from 3 different breeders, I've lost one from each - so 4 days ago there was blood everywhere and so I removed one chick with eye closed and bloody. Then 2 days later her other eye closed and another chick has a shut eye. I removed her and have them both - eyes covered neosporin. Now my buff is opening her mouth seeming like she's struggling. And one of my sick chicks feel like it has a growth on her chest [IMG] I'm super sad my babies are struggling and I don't know what to do.

How old are these chicks?Could the growth on the chick be the crop where food is stored--it is on the upper right side of the chick's chest. There can be problems in combining chicks from several breeders, especially if their ages are different, and it's common to spread diseases when they are not quarantined for 30 days. Give the sick chicks vitamins with electrolytes in their water, and make sure they are in a big enough brooder. How warm is your brooder, and do you have a thermometer in there? The temperature should be 90 for day old chicks up to a week old, and go down by 5 degrees a week. If you have different ages, they need to be in separate brooders.

My chicks are 4 and 5 weeks old. I separated the sick ones. gave them all vitamin water. The eyes are opened on the sickest but not yet on the second to get ill but it didn't spread. And the other chicks are doing great. Yes it's her right upper chest side that's large. What does that mean? Where she stores crop? And thank you

they are 4 and 5 weeks old. I separated sick ones. Hey are doing much better. No other ones are sick and they are all on vitamin water. Cinnamon croissant still has a large chest, yes the upper are where crop is stored. What does that mean? Happy to report their eyes are opened now
