I have a broody chicken sitting on eggs it is day 22 and nothing is happening. My broody hen Licorice is a first time mother she is very protective and pecks me like you wouldn't believe is there any way I can stop her fro being so protective? She is also a very small pekin and I am worried she is going to crush her chicks if she does should I take the others out and look after them myself? Or should I leave them with her? PLEASE help me out[IMG]

I'd leave her alone and let her raise the babies. If she isn't doing well with them once they hatch, then remove them, but it sounds like she'll be a very fierce and protective mother.

Sometimes chicks can take a little longer to hatch than the normal 21 days. I bet they'll hatch soon.

I second the just wait it out advice. 21 days for chickens is like 9 months for humans--some go early, some go late. Just let her do her thing and enjoy her babies.
