I noticed that my duck has been limping and will sit and pant. He tries to keep up with the female but it is obviously in a lot of pain. I finally got ahold of him (they aren't ppl friendly) lured him in with watermelon. I held him as my husband looked at his foot and he has a deep puncture wound on the bottom and my husband pulled something out. now it's bleeding what can I do to help his pain?? I hate to see him like this :( any antiseptic I can put on??

I put neosporin on a wound on the bottom of my duck's foot. It wasn't bleeding when I found it, so your duck's wound may be much worse. I had googled it and the advice on line said to wash it 2-3 times a day and put antiseptic on it. I used neosporin because I figured it wouldn't burn or sting. In about 2 days, my duck stopped limping. Sounds like your situation is worse and I would get some antiseptic on it asap.

HONEY! i cannot express this enough. get some gauze and some of the stick to itself gauze roll. and put some RAW honey on the gauze and place it directly on the wound. and rap it nice and snug leave it over night and change it in the morning. I promise you this will help a great deal. your little one should be doing much better in a couple days. trust me on this i have had A LOT of experience with deep wounds and infections. after he starts walking better I can send you some collagen pads you can put on his foot to help regrow new tissue. I hate when animals get hurt and I like to help any way i can.

Wrap snug but be careful you don't cut off circulation, keep an eye on the foot and make sure it doesn't feel cold or turn blue, that emeans the bandage is too tight. you can also soak in warm epsom salt water.

Ok.. I put raw honey on his foot which seemed a bit warm??? I tried wrapping it with coban but was unsuccessful since the female came after me! Have a few bite marks but I am trying... right now he is in the coop resting, I have the honey on it with no wrap. Its really dark out now so I may try this again in the morning. I am thinking if I am unsuccessful that I might pen the ducks in for a few days so he can rest his foot. (i will be able to catch him and look at it easier as well.)

When I tried wrapping it I was nervous to wrap too tightly. The wound is on the base of his outer L toe when I tried wrapping it, his poor webbed feet were squished together.. I tried doing it loosely but then the female attacked me ... will try again in the morning.

I'd keep him on clean bedding and try wrapping it again to keep dirt and poo out of it. Rest would be a good idea too.

they are actually $350 each but I have quite a few left from a surgery My cat had, humans can use them too, I would be glad to send you a couple for free. also try your best to wrap it with the honey its the only way to pull out the swelling and bacteria and start the healing process.
