I have 5 chickens and 2 ducks and just recently we noticed the ducks were plucking at the chickens feathers one poor chicken is almost bald under her wings, any ideas why they are doing this and how I can stop them. i dont seem to have many feathers about so think they are eating them. I always have fresh food and water down.

sometimes you can keep ducks and chickens together with no problems and other times you can't. Are your ducks males? Can they free range? I myself would seperate them. Good Luck! Feathers grow back in about 6 weeks.

Perhaps a dominance thing, but another question is what are you feeding them? They may be doing it because of a lack of protein or some other nutrient. Make sure they are getting 17% protein in their diet.
