    Hi All,

I have 2 beautiful 19 week old lavender Araucanas that I bought as 6 day old unsexed chicks. They are different 'types' and have looked completely different since birth so need to be judged separately on their own features. I have my own gender suspicions but am fairly clueless in that area and would love some input!

    Thank you!! [IMG]

The top is 100% male and the bottom is 100% female. Beautiful pair you have there! :D

They're actually not Araucanas, which is a tailless breed. They are Lavender Ameraucanas. The top one is a rooster and the bottom one is a hen.

    I agree.

This would be my first thought as well. However, in the United Kingdom and Australia, birds like these are known as Araucanas. I'm not sure where the thread starter lives, but if she/he lives in any of those countries, they may actually be Lavender Araucanas.

That's an interesting thought. I think I remember reading that the UK does not recognize the Ameraucana.
