HELP- New baby Chicks !! ***please!!

Hey everyone we just got 2 day old baby chicks (5 of them) - one is up and walking around chirping away. all others do not have eyes open, legs are stretched and they are sleeping right now) - this is new to me. is something wrong? they had a hard time walking without falling over. wasn't sure if this was normal for 2 day old chickens. (bantam) - what can we do? how do we know without watching them 24/7 if they are even getting food/water.

Hi have you picked them up and shown them where the food and water is? You can gently dip the tip of their beaks into the water so they get a taste. It doesn’t look like they’re too hot since they’re laying together, but make sure there is a cooler side in your brooder so they can cool down if they want. Make sure the heat source is around 95 degrees their first week. They are adorable by the way!!

Do you have an area with shade they can go to? It looks like they're too hot. The outstretched wings and splaying is usually them trying to cool off.

They are over heating. Their wings are out. Raise the lamp.

Earlier when we brought them back they couldn’t stand. It was hard for them to move through the shavings. They would fall over or stretch legs out.

Oh I thought they’d be cold. Just brought them home from car.
