Help--Not sure what this is.

    Don't think I've ever seen these around here before. Not sure what they are or if they pose a threat to chickens. Does anybody know what they are? Sorry, this is the best pic I could get before they would fly off.

    Look like cattle egrets. They are everywhere here in OK. Health threats are probably about the same as any wild birds, they aren't predators if that's what you mean - they eat ticks off cattle and other bugs cattle stir up while grazing. They can form huge colonies.

    Thanks Okie, guess that explains why they were following the cows around the field. I have ducks and these are definitely not ducks.
