Help please. my hen is very sick.

I am a new backyard chicken person. I have a hen that the inside of the upper beak area is swollen and has filled the area of the upper beak. Anyone with suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I have never encountered such a thing. I'm sorry I have no suggestions for you except a veterinarian. I am interested in what the outcome is. Please keep me posted.

Do you have vet care available?

Swelling of the inside of the beak - does it look like a growth or canker?

Two things come to mind, either Canker or Wet Fowl Pox.

If it is canker then Metronidazole ( Fishzole) is usually treatment of choice. For Wet Fowl Pox you can try treating with Tetracycline. For both, clean and sanitize your water stations well. It may be a good idea to separate her until you have treated her - making sure she is eating/drinking.
