Hi all,

We got 4 new chicks and we need to find out if they are hens or roosters as we can not keep roosters due to the local law. But I have no ideal. I have read many post and articals and still can not tell one hundred percent and dont want to get rid of hens by accident.

The chicks are around 3weeks in the pictures . and I believe they are sussex cross chickens.

Thank you in very one in advance for the help :)

I wouldn't get rid of any at this point - it's still too soon to know for sure. We can make educated guesses, but it's not a sure thing at 3 weeks.

Also - knowing their breed would help as well - some breeds have naturally larger combs than others. :)

X2 3 weeks is very young to sex.

I wouldn't rush to get rid of any too soon. I think most towns/cities that have a no rooster law allow you to keep them until a certain age somewhere around 16-18 weeks old.

You should post pics again in a week or 2.

Its too young to tell for sure right now. So far, there are no obvious roosters. However, post some more photos in a few weeks-- by that time, we should be able to tell the gender better.
