Hi! I’m hoping that someone will help me sex my 8 1/2 Week Ameraucana chicks. I am confident on the gender of the other chicks but cannot tell if these guys are cockerels or pullets?

The combs of chicks 4 and 5 don’t get redder than what’s pictured above. Chick 5 is also ten days older than the others. Also, pretty sure chick 3 is a cockerel! but not totally sure.

#1& 3 look like cockerels to me, 4&5 pullets. #2 is a little harder but at this point I’d guess puller also. You can see a little difference in the color and size of their combs. The 1&3 seem slightly larger and brighter.

Can you guys tell anything from the back feathers? I’ve been trying to get my guesses correct but I was wrong on these...how can you tell?
Back feathers dont mean a thing with these chicks at this age. As long as the breeds are not an autosexing or sexlinked breed, at this age, its best to go by comb growth.

In a few short weeks the hackle and saddles start to sprout. My 10 week old ameraucana cockerel just started getting his earlier this week..
It will look like this
