Tuesday morning when I went out to check on my broody momma with her four chicks after it had rained all night and only three were under her. I found the fourth chick, Ruby squashed in the mud outside the hen house. I'm not sure how long she was out there. I thought that she was dead until I saw her stretch her legs, so I brought her into the house and cleaned and dried her off. She seemed fine but she wasn't eating. I disregarded that considering she was only three days old and I figured that she had plenty of yolk to sustain herself with. But now she's on her fifth day and still isn't interested in food. I brought her two chicks from a feed store to keep her company and I'd hoped she would follow along and eat with them but no such luck. As of today I have been feeding her raw, fresh yolk with a dropper but it hasn't seemed to make any difference. She hasn't been drinking either so I've been giving her water as well. Please help as she is very weak and is sleeping a LOT! I don't want to lose Ruby. There were twenty-two eggs under momma and only seven hatched. Three have passed away already and I don't want it to be four. Please do not suggest culling as I will not do that. PLEASE ANSWER SOON!
