Hey all. I have (4) 5 week old chickens & this is my first time raising chickens. Theyve been great & just moved out to the garage, coop in a few weeks.

Today i noticed my buff, penny lane, had a small spot of blood on the right side of her beak just below her nostril. Any thoughts on what it might be? No dripping or flowing blood just a tiny spot. Shes acting totally fine otherwise. Thanks![IMG]

A peck or a scratch maybe? I'd advise removing all signs of blood (maybe with a saline solution or iodine) as the sight of blood may encourage pecking from the other chicks. As for the "injury" - I wouldn't worry about it in the least.
