HELP stop chicken from pecking at crop surgery wound

Just finish surgery on hen 30 min ago. Went to check her after clean up and she had already started to peck at the incision and open the wound. any suggestions. We stitched the crop and super glued the skin. the skin popped open with the pecking. Should we re-glue?

Yes, re-glue. Then, take a piece of card stock (like a 3x5 index card) and wrap it around the hens head and neck in a cone shape and secure with scotch tape. Trim the sharp corners off. If that freaks her out then the other solution would be to put her in a dark place where she'll be fooled into thinking it's nighttime and will go to sleep. Might have to keep her in darkness for a couple of days (bringing her out at frequent intervals for water and food) until the wound knits and her preening won't open it again.
