Help w/genetics: Blue birchen marans - breeding?

Hi All,

I recently saw some photos of blue birchen marans, and was just wondering if they breed true? I understand how blue genetics in orpingtons work - blue, black, splas... but is the same true for the birchen marans? Can you even tell if a splash birchen is birchen? And, is a 'black' blue birchen considered 'silver birchen'?

So many questions I can't find answers to!

Yes. It breeds the same as in any other blue, you still have the birchen, and it is indeed silver.
