    Howdy everyone!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far.
So, I have 7, 8 week old babies I got as Day Old Rare Breed Assortment from My Pet Chicken. Now, when you go this route, they toss in whatever breed is listed in the Assortment description. I have been able to identify 4 of the 7, but I would appreciate any assistance on the ones I don't know. The white one, black one, and the tan one. They are all supposed to be pullets, but I think one, the Blue Splash Cochin, is a cockerel. Opinions?

    Hi

What type of comb does the red one have? I'm guessing that may be a buckeye. Is the first one truly white or could it be a splash....I'm thinking maybe andalucian...possibly the black one too.

Yes your splash cochin looks like a cockerel. I have the bantam version and the males are pretty easy to identify early on as they develop rather obvious red combs by 5 weeks.

    Thanks for the reply!
She has a single comb, and I was also thinking Buckeye as a possibility. I have a Sicilian Buttercup, so she was easy to identify that way.
The white one is all white, and I was thinking maybe White Marans, but it's still early at 8 wks to be sure on some of them.

I must correct myself. Upon closer inspection, it looks the little white girl might actually be trending toward a splash. It's very faint, but there are what looks like darker coloring coming in around her head and neck as well as on some of her feather tips.
