Hey guys, so our chicks are just getting to about 7-8 weeks old, and I was hoping to get some help confirming sexes on some of them. We have about 40 chicks, so I'm only going to post a few at a time because taking pictures of them is a pain! Tonight I was curious about our two Salmon Favorelles. I thought originally we were going to have a hen and a roo because the "roo" wasn't developing as quickly and had other roo characteristics. But "he" hasn't started developing any comb or wattles, and isn't filling in dark like I expected. So I'm thinking we may have lucked out and gotten two hens. Thoughts? "Hen" on the left and "roo" on the right. Sorry for the poor quality pictures, its dark and the garage where we are keeping them is not well lit.
Thanks everyone. I thought that was the case but I'm not too great at sexing chicks. I may be able to get another picture up tonight, but I'm not sure. I originally thought our lone surviving Blue Laced Red Wyandotte was a hen, but her comb has started looking a bit too red for my comfort.
It's been a but crazy here but this is the BLRW I mentioned in my last post. I think it's a rooster, but I'm not sure. 8 weeks is a little young to have that much red showing on the comb and wattles. Sidenote, it is so hard to get a good picture with a phone in one hand while holding a chick in the other!
