This is my son's 3 month old chicken, we were told it was a Barnvelder. It is the biggest of all the chickens thta are the same age but different breeds, and is kind of the boss. What do you think - hen or roo? [IMG] We are hoping for a hen! Idon't know if it means anything, but this chicken has the shiniest feathers I have ever seen on a bird before, it's like some of the feathers have been dipped in oil. Very pretty bird!

I am pretty sure that is a rooster. I do not think it is a Barnevelder either. Green tail, pointed hackles and large comb all looks roosterish.

Definitely a rooster. And I don't think it looks like a Barnevelder either.

3 months of age? Definitely roosters. Only my laying hens have combs like that. Not sure of the breed.

I had a Barnevelder and I don't believe that is one.
