Was it just a shell-less egg?

I would look for it where you found her. If you can find a yoke, or evidence a yolk was there, I wouldn't worry about. If she seems to be in distress, continue giving her a warm bath. If that doesn't help, you can put some petroleum jelly in her vent, which will help heal any irritation and the yolk may slide out.

that was a first for me, i been around cattle and horses, cats and dogs but these are my first chickens and sticking my finger in ones vent is weird. After all the animals and my two year old i thought there would be nothing new/strange i was wrong that was so strange.

I would only do that if you are sure she is egg bound. I'm not a super big expert on egg binding, I would suggest you PM speckledhen for the best advice. Hope your hen will get better!
