I have a buff orpington that has not been herself for 2 days now. All she wants to do is sit in the nesting box. She puffs up and has a pulsating vent, I have checked her vent best I could and yesterday she had a lot of fecal matter. She finally had a bowel movement. Today when I checked her there was a little fecal matter. I do not feel any eggs in her abdomen. Her bottom is also red. She does eat and drink some, and only really moves around when I separate her from the others. That is when she will run around to avoid us and also flies about. Please help. I do not know what else I can do and I know that she is miserable.

:welcome! Is she also sleeping on the nest at night? Is she growling and puffing up at you when you get close to her on the nest? It sounds as though she may be broody if that's the case :)

Yes that's what she's doing. What is broody if I may ask. This is the 1st year I've had chickens.

It means she'd like to hatch some eggs and raise chicks :)
