My broody's eggs were supposed to hatch this week. I went outside today to find one of the eggs was smashed on one side. The chick is still alive, but the yolk sac is not yet absorbed. What do I do?

Either leave it under her or bring it inside and give it a spot around 95 degrees.
I just read about a girl that incubated and hatched eggs with no humidity and a desk lamp in an open cardboard box.

Okay, I've got it in a box with a light. The temperature is at 99 degrees, should I lower it?

I've been trying to give it some extra humidity so it doesn't get shrink wrapped.

If it's already out of the egg it won't get shrinkwrapped. I like to take it down a few degrees because they're generating some of their own heat. I think a chick's temp is around 105.

Okay thank you. i just don`t know what to do.

I just don`t know for sure if it will live.

Is it still in the egg or out?

I'd definitely take it inside and put it in a warm place.

Specifics beyond that depend on if it's still in the egg or not.

I had a broody's egg get smashed a couple days before hatch. We put it in the incubator with extra humidity and it hatched ok and is perfectly healthy now.

it needs humidity to stop the membrane drying out. you can lay it on a damp cloth and cover with a damp paper towel. how many days is it till it is due to hatch?
