I just went out to take care of post-dinner chores when I found a big, chalky, somewhat misshapen egg (probably a double yolk) on the ground near the coop. Four eggs were given this morning so I wasn't too shocked to find #5 this evening.
What I did find odd was Yums. She was sitting in the cabinet I use as a rain shelter for their food. She was only a few feet from the warm egg and odd-shaped honkers are fairly common for her to lay. She stood up and pooped, then remained standing, albeit awkwardly, with her back feathers poofed out, wings dropped. She didn't seem to notice me until I reached out and touched her.
It's been an hour and she's still just standing there in the box. It'll be bedtime for the girls soon. I wonder if she'll bother going in the coop at all. She's been sneaky and has slept outside before. (Yeah, the one night I slip up and don't bother doing a head count at bed time I woke to her standing in the backyard yelling at 5am the next morning.)
I digress. Any suggestions on what could be her problem? If eggs are moving and poop is moving it can't be all that bad, right? Right? Sigh. I guess we'll see.
ETA - sure enough, I had to pick her up and put her in the coop.
