One of my hens (definitely female) (my favourite) started attacking me the other week. She would chase any human round the garden pecking their feet and being really nasty. Her comb was bigger and redder than her sisters and she dominated every one of them. She also started to crow like a cockerel in the mornings. I thought she was really getting the testosterone a bit high, when lo and behold she started sitting on the nest all day. She doesn't attack anyone when they approach, just growls and puffs her feathers. she is as sweet as pie now. I now think it was just the female hormones kicking in! Like she was pre-menstrual or something! Now just have to break this broodiness... unless anyone wants to rent her underside for a while to hatch some eggs!!??
