Is it normal for the hens to stay outside all day? Just wondering if they will want to go in their house any during the day. We are new chicken owenrs so just trying to learn as much as we can

You will probably get as many different answers as you have chickens. They all have their own personalities. I have some that never leave the barn and I have others that never go into the barn. I have everything in between.

Do they not go in the house at night? Or is this just a during the day thing?

Maybe they need a Nintendo or X-Box. That'll keep 'em indoors.

Mine stay outside in the run most of the time, but go in the hen house to lay an egg or at dusk to roost. I've seen them inside once in a while to scratch in the wheat straw looking for wheat seeds, but that's not often.

As with most animals and birds, I think it's natural for them to be outside where they can scratch and forage for bugs and worms, and eat grass/weeds. The fresh air and sun is good for them, too. I put my girls out in their playpen yesterday, and they had *such* a good time exploring.
