MY white Silkie hen hatched out 5 out of 5 baby chicks from my owne eggs and truthfully i have never really had a hen succesfully go broody and hatch chicks. The chicks are around 1 month old (i think i will have to look at the calender) and my hen has started to lay eggs again and is getting away from the chicks every chance she gets. I know that hens dont stay with their chicks that long but should she already be doing this? I mean the chicks are still very young and dont have all their feathers yet.
    Thanks

Natural mommas aren't as indulgent as we two-legged, featherless kinds.

Quote:I thought she would stay with them untill they where fully feathered at least. but i guess not? Would it be ok to move the chicks and mamma in with the older birds? they dont eem to bother the chicks..?
