Hen layed a speckled egg! New!

I have 6 hens all golden comets that lay nice brown eggs. This morning the one egg was speckled.. What can cause that?

I have 6 hens all golden comets that lay nice brown eggs. This morning the one egg was speckled.. What can cause that?

Just a variance in how the "spray paint" got applied this morning. Brown eggs begin as white and are coated in brown pigment prior to being expelled - the pigment isn't always 100% consistent in how it is applied.
