My Goldline is around 1 year 3 months old, for the last couple months she’s lost a LOT of feathers. Is this normal? She’s still laying and eating/foraging like she should.
There’s also red marks on her although I’m not sure where they’ve came from. She is at the very top of the pecking order and if anything can be a slight bully herself.
Is this her ageing or is there something wrong?
(I’ve also attached a picture of what she used to look like)
Thankyou

Is it possible that someone else is making their way up the pecking order?
If you have a game camera, you could put it in the coop, so you can see what's happening.
Also, you might up the protein in her diet. Try a 20% grower feed with oyster shell on the side.
Good luck!

Thankyou for your advice will definitely try changing the feed, I suppose that could be possible, although their are two which are two wards the top (1 of them being her) and they are best mates, they walk round together most the day, the others are very far down compared to them. Perhaps they may occasionally fight when I’m not around. Will definitely try changing feed though, Thankyou😃

I did have a rooster, although I got rid of him a few months back. Back then she had started to lose a few feathers, but not dramatically I don’t recall her having them red marks back then. It’s baffling me where these have come from.
You may have a dominant hen situation going on, or bullying happening then.

Since you've gotten rid of the rooster, it's possible that the dynamics of the flock have changed. She may not be so high on the pecking order, as you think, especially on the roost, at night.
